Preservatives, artificial colors, emulsifiers, binders, flavor maskers… Americans eat 600 million pounds of artificial flavors each year.
Just about everything that grows is genetically modified, and drowned in pesticides and herbicides from seed to harvest.
Let’s take food back. Let’s make products only from real ingredients. Ingredients that are grown in fields and orchards, or by Mother Nature.
OAT BEVERAGE 2.0
We enjoy plant-based smoothies, but not the chemicals or processed sugars in them.
Because oats are healthy and tasty super grains, we set out to make an oat-based chocolate smoothie, utilizing the best Scandinavian oatmilk know-how. We wanted to improve the existing recipes by taking out carrageenan, vegetable gums and any processed sugars.
We tested dozens of cocoa powders, vanilla extracts, syrups, nectars, pea proteins…making sure they tasted authentic so we did not have to mask any of the flavors chemically.
NOBODY WANTS CHEMICALS IN THEIR FOOD.
DO WE REALLY NEED THEM?
When you prepare chocolate milk at home and let it sit for a minute you’ll notice that the cocoa starts to sink to the bottom.
This is a natural phenomenon. Manufacturers don’t want that to happen, so they use artificial thickeners, binders and emulsifiers to get the ingredients to stick together.
But wouldn’t you rather just shake the bottle a bit before drinking than swallow a bunch of bad-tasting chemicals?
We would. That’s why we set out to create an oldfashionally delicious and satisfying nondairy drink without any chemicals. A drink that tastes homemade, enhanced with pure pea protein, and lightly sweetened with real Vermont maple syrup.
